Kentucky 1st District Congressman James Comer and USDA Rural Development Kentucky State Director Hilda Legg were in Russell County recently to announce a grant of $449,892 for construction of a new terminal at the Russell County Airport. The new building will include office space, an attendant counter, lobby, meeting room, kitchen, and pilot lounge.
The airport grant is part of a $1.8 million USDA package that also includes funding for the Lake Cumberland Area Development District and the City of a Jamestown for infrastructure improvements.
The Russell County Airport features a 5,000-foot runway and is 2.5 miles from the Lake Cumberland Regional Industrial Complex Site 1, 2.9 miles from downtown Jamestown, and 3.9 miles from Downtown Russell Springs.
