The Russell County Industrial Development Authority has received grant funding through the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (PDI) program to extend a road through the Lake Cumberland Regional Industrial Complex Site 1 Park. The over $970,000 project was approved for nearly $440,000 in state funds to help support the development.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshears announced the funding award on April 17 as part of the Kentucky Product Development Initiative program.
In 2020, the RCIDA acquired an additional 48.5 acres to expand the site which is located off of French Valley Road. The new road will improve access and make the additional acreage more suitable to potential manufacturing site selectors.
“The Russell County Industrial Development Authority is grateful to the Cabinet for Economic Development for their support as we went through the PDI process,” said Lucas Witt of MWM Consulting. “This joint investment with the commonwealth will allow us expand upon the current road infrastructure and accommodate future industrial user who wish to locate their facility on the back portion of the property.”
The KPDI program was established in 2022 and builds on the state’s growing effort to develop land and buildings in local communities to support new, well-paying jobs and economic growth across the commonwealth.
“Site selection is crucial in setting up future economic success for Kentucky,” said Gov. Beshear. “The funding provided through the KPDI program gives communities around the state the opportunities and advantages they need to ensure they have quality sites and buildings to attract growing companies. I’m excited to announce this second wave of projects in the initial round of KPDI and can’t wait to see what quality companies build in these communities.”
Construction of the road is expected to begin this year, but a completion date has not been determined.
